Once upon a time, a little boy was born. He was little, and helpless, and we loved him. We loved him for 365 days, and a little bit more every day. It was the kind of love that you do. We woke up in the middle of the night to check if he was comfortable. No need to set any alarm, it was a new sense of responsibility that rang inside our heads. We lacked enough sleep, forgot to eat or comb our hair, all just to make sure that little bundle would grow and live.
And did he grow, and did he live!
Still a little boy, but three times his original weight.
Still helpless, but already able to find the right buttons on the remote control to play some rock&roll, able to climb off our bed, able to dip his spoon in his yogurt and feed himself.
Happy birthday dear Nelson, one year old! We will love you some more, and hope to celebrate many birthdays with you yet to come. As you grow up and change, we will also grow and change with you. May your life be blessed. May you be a blessing for many others.
